How can the City of Toronto continue to take on this liability now reported to be a quarter of a billion dollars according to this CBC.ca article: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2009/06/23/leave-bank.html CUPE and the members need to give themselves a collective shaking for thinking that they can continue to rob the taxpayers of Toronto blind. ...
Toronto Civic Employees Union, Local 416 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), represents over 8,000 City of Toronto workers who provide many of the quality public services that help make Toronto such a great city. Our union has been in place since 1917.
We are in your neighbourhoods saving lives, operating libraries, maintaining roads, clearing snow, rescuing animals, picking up your garbage and recycling, and keeping our parks clean and beautiful.
We are paramedics, social housing workers, water and wastewater specialists, librarians and other library workers, gardeners, labourers, animal control officers, parking lot attendants, and more.
TCEU Local 416 and its members are at the forefront of many initiatives and programs that improve the quality of life in our city. Some examples:
We are very proud of our city and the work our members do to keep it great, every minute of every day.
