Well, This company was originally started by my father "Rocky Jackson" in the late 1950's ,
in Sooke, BC Canada. Hence, the name "Roc-Key's Locksmith".
Back in the day, when I was just old enough to understand what my Father was doing,
I became very interested in my Fathers work.
Around 1975 I really took an active interest in this trade.
Over the years while riding with him often doing some of the Leg Work, Removing and
Replacing the locks in apartment buildings that he had Re-keyed or Repaired in the Van and such.
I learned some of the "In's and Out's" of the Locksmithing Trade.
Spending many hours in the basement with a collection of old "Locksmith Ledger" Magazines and
key blank catalog's reading and learning.
Eventually learning how to and making some of make my own tools.
In-fact, I still carry a fully functional set of special picks I made on my own as a teenager....
I still make some of my own "Broken Key Extractors" even now...
By the early 80's, I convinced my father to train me on the job and was soon licensed via the "Grand Father Clause".
In 1988 I let out on my own and eventually moved to the Kootaney's in 1989 and ended up in Creston BC.
For about a year things were going fairly well there.
I got a call in 1990 about a death in the family and came back to the Island and needed to stay and help.
Well with the new business, it was't long till the wolves were at the door.
I had to liquidate everything and cover the company debt.My Father retired in 2008 and
I took over the business, I later changed the name to "Roc-Key's Mobile Locksmith.
Since then I have worked in the trade and I find myself still doing it...
So, That's my story and I'm sticking to it! LOL
